Bari Centrale is the main railway station of Puglia. The Railway Station is in the centre of Bari, in Aldo Moro square (Piazza Aldo Moro). It offers a good system of regional and national transports. For national destination, in Italy, you can go to the mainline platforms, served by the FS (Ferrovie dello Stato) railway company. For regional destinations, in Puglia, you can choose among the platforms served by FSE (Ferrovie Sud Est), FNB (Ferrovie Nord Barese) and FAL (Ferrovie Appulo Lucane). You must validate your tickets before boarding your train. Remember that train services are often limited on weekends and public holidays in Puglia.

AIRPORTS IN PUGLIA


Bari Airport is located at Palese, around five miles to the west of the city, and is also known as Bari Palese. It is officially named Aeroporto di Bari Karol Wojtyla after the late Pope John Paul II, and its IATA code is BRI. The airport is an international one, with flights to several European countries including the UK, Belgium, Germany, Spain and Greece. There is also - at the time of writing - a once-weekly flight between Bari and New York, operated by Eurofly.

ROAD SYSTEM IN PUGLIA


Bari, the capital of Puglia, is a few kilometres from Polignano a Mare. It is the centre of a well structured and modern road system: from the North the motorway A14, the SS 16 and 98 roads which go southwards (Brindisi and Lecce) and the SS 100 road to Taranto and SS 96 to Matera. There is also a system of secondary roads which can take you very easily to the various towns of the province.
